Shortening of the watch band

Shortening a watch band can be easily and quickly done at home. All you need is a watch band shortening tool and a few minutes of your time. In this article, we'll guide you on how to properly shorten any type of watch band.

Shortening of the metal bracelet

Shortening the wristwatch should be done with care so as not to damage the watch or the wristband. First, try the watch on your wrist and try how many pieces need to be removed from the band to make it fit you.

With the prong of the bracelet shortening tool, you can push the pins of the extra pieces out from the inside of the bracelet. It is good to shorten the watch with the dial pointing towards the shortener, in which case the pin is pushed from above the dial from right to left. Once you've got your wristband to the size you want, join the wristband together and fasten it in place by inserting the pin you removed into the joint. Repeat the same process on the other side of the watch face so that the bracelet is symmetrical on both sides.

The metal bracelet can also be attached with studs, but the same instructions apply to shortening them.

Mesh strap shortening

Shortening the metal mesh bracelet is very simple. All you need to do is move the metal mounting piece by prying it open with a sharp object such as a watch band replacement tool. After opening the attachment piece, move it to the desired position and press to fasten the bracelet.

Leather strap shortening

The leather bracelet does not need to be shortened, because it already has suitable holes with which you can adjust the length of the bracelet! You just lift the buckle and move it to the desired hole so that the bracelet is the right length.

Shortening the strap of the HAVU wooden watch
